Home automation - where do you stop, where do you start?

Home automation, custom
installations and multi-room are all high on the list of home
owners. But it's a potential minefield out there. We give you some
does and don'ts to help you along the way.
The house of your dreams.
Plan ahead:
To start with, plan around what you would ideally like, no holes barred. Things can always be trimmed later. When we prepare your wiring plan, it is much better to spend a little extra on cables to allow for everything, than it is to decide later that you would like something that there is no provision for.
Budget:
Set yourself some kind of budget to work to. Although things can be variable, it is much better to make your plans and then see what your budget can get you out of your ideal system. There are many systems available, but with some idea of your budget, we will do our best to get you as close to your ideal system as we possibly can.
Talk to us - we don't bite - honest!
If your not sure if something you would like is possible then just ask. Remote lighting? All room audio? Multi-room video? Many customers have unique ideas to make their systems just how they would like them. We will always endeavour to integrate these requests into your home.
Wire smart:
It's very tempting when your builder tells you he can supply cables that are just as good at much less money. BUT, high quality cables cost more for a reason. Once it's buried in the wall or under the floor, it's too late to do anything about an audio cable that hums or a video cable that gives a distorted picture. Spend a little extra money and save a lot of grief.
